Enjoy free, family-friendly live music on the steps of Central Library! In April 2026, join us from 12 to 2 pm Thursdays through Sundays to hear performances from some incredible local artists. Find more information below!

Who’s performing?

Eight different artists will perform free and family-friendly music throughout April. Like trumpets or accordions? You’ll love this. Whistling more your tune? There’ll be some of that, too. From jazz to the blues to opera and beyond, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

Jay Ringer (April 9 and 23)

Specializing in trumpet, piano, guitar, and vocals, Portland local Jay Ringer frequently performs at different venues across the Pacific Northwest. A number of his scores have been used for independent films and commercials.

Story & Tune (April 10)

Story & Tune is a harmony-driven duo dedicated to lyrical storytelling. On top of live performances, Story & Tune offers custom songs, musical education for kids 12 and under, and private concerts.

Maeve Stier (April 11 and 18)

Based in Portland, Maeve Stier wears many hats. From singing opera to playing accordion to performing on Broadway, this artist told Willamette Week that they “just love making music happen anywhere.” We were honored to host Stier at the Northwest Library opening celebration back in January 2026!

Machado Mijiga (April 12 and 26)

Instrumentalist, composer, educator, and producer Machado Mijiga is also based in Portland. Mijiga got his start on social media and plays saxophone, keyboard, drums, guitar, and more. He’s been an Artist in Residence at Roosevelt High School and a member of the board of the Jazz Society of Oregon. 

Jordan Sings (April 16)

Jordan Sings got his start as a street performer in Portland. He became known for performances at the Portland International Airport. His original music is influenced by Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, and Tracy Chapman.

Greta Lau (April 17 and 25)

Greta Lau is a writer, theatre artist, producer, and performer. This winner of the 2025 Portland Buskathon’s “Portland Rising Star” award has worked with the Artist Repertory Theatre, Portland Center Stage, Tacoma Arts Live, and more.

Whistle and Fish (April 19)

Whistle and Fish specializes in acoustic music in multiple genres like pop, folk, rock, and more. On top of songs in English, Portuguese and Spanish, enjoy music from baritone ukulele, harmonica, and whistling. Plus, Whistle and Fish was ranked #20 in the 2024 Global Whistling Championship!

Jeremy Famà (April 24)

This Portland-based musician draws influence from jazz, blues and soul. His performances combine originals with covers of popular pieces. Famà is also part of Fortune Ave Records, an indie record label based in North Portland that creates hand-made records.


This month of music in downtown Portland promises good tunes, great vibes, and fun the whole family can enjoy. We hope you’ll come on down and get inspired by music on the steps of the library!
