Portland Insectarium is the city's first museum and zoo dedicated entirely to bugs! In this program there will be a selection of live bugs on display, such as tarantulas, mantises, and scorpions! Some are touchable bugs (roaches, isopods, millipedes), others preserved insect displays. Toys and other activities will be there to explore, plus experts to answer any questions! Suitable for all ages.

Black History Month: York of the Lewis & Clark Expedition

In 1805, an enslaved man named York reached what is today Portland as part of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. York’s contributions helped ensure the Expedition’s success, but he received no compensation for his services and his efforts were rarely acknowledged in the two centuries that followed.
