How to play

Children and teens can track their reading on paper or online. Everyone who completes the Summer Reading game will be entered into the Grand Prize drawings.

  • Sign up for the game, either by picking up a paper gameboard at a library or registering on Beanstack to play online.
  • Stop by your library and choose one free book.
  • Mark a space for each day you read, listen to a book, or do a summer learning activity. A general guideline is 15 minutes of reading or learning for ages 0-4, 30 minutes for kindergarten to grade 8, and one hour for high schoolers. This is flexible and can be done in more than one sitting.
  • After marking 15 spaces, visit the library and choose a prize. Prize 1 is available beginning June 30.
  • After marking 30 spaces, visit the library to fill out the finisher form. You can pick up a T-shirt or onesie, and a prize. The first day to claim the finisher prize is July 15.
  • All prizes are available while supplies last.
  • One prize may be claimed per path.
  • Complete 30 days and turn in a completed finisher form to be entered into the Grand Prize drawing for your age group: ages 0-4, kindergarten to grade 8, and grades 9-12.
  • The last day to turn in forms to the library is August 15.
  • Each person can play only one time between June 15 and August 15.

You must be a resident of Multnomah County to be eligible to win the Grand Prize drawing. Odds of winning Grand Prizes are based on the number of entries received. Winners are drawn at random.
