History of Kwanzaa at North Portland Library
The North Portland Library has been participating in community-wide Kwanzaa celebrations since 2000. Educator and community leader Joyce Harris has been a staple for Kwanzaa in Portland since the early years of celebrations, dating back to the early 1970s in someone’s home.

Service animals
Multnomah County Library welcomes service animals in the library. Service animals, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), are dogs or, in some cases miniature horses, that have been trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Pets, companion and emotional support or therapy animals are not allowed in the library.
CCTV and magnification
Magnifying glasses and sheets are available at every library location. Video magnifier (CCTV) for patrons who need higher magnification are available a some locations.

Request a reasonable accommodation
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Multnomah County Library provides accommodations to patrons with disabilities. You may request accommodations for access to library buildings, services, programs and events, including ASL interpretation, assistive listening devices and other accommodations.
Exclusion appeal
If you have been excluded from Multnomah County Library, you can appeal your exclusion. You should submit your appeal within 30 days of the exclusion.
