About this service

If you have a reading barrier, Bookshare e-books can make reading easier. You can customize your reading experience with audio, audio + highlighted text, braille, large font, and other formats. It works on almost any device.

Multnomah County Library partners with Bookshare to make the service free to patrons with visual, physical and print disabilities. E-books are available in English and Spanish.

Who can use this service

You can use this service if you are an adult and have:

Bookshare will determine whether you are eligible when you sign up. Eligibility is subject to change. Patrons with limited-use library cards are not eligible.

Students can get access through their school.

How to sign up

  1. Contact us and ask for our Bookshare code. You’ll need your library card number.
  2. Use the code to sign up for a Bookshare account on their website.
