Storytime descriptions

The library offers a range of storytimes for children and families to enjoy together.

Book Babies
Babies from birth to 12 months (with a favorite adult) enjoy songs, action rhymes, playtime and share a book in each lively Book Babies session. Book Babies gives your baby the opportunity to hear lots of language while you get to know other young families. 
Offered in Spanish as Hora de Cuentos para Bebés or bilingual Spanish/English as Bebés Bilingües.

Tiny Tots
One-year-olds (with a favorite adult) enjoy songs, movement activities, rhymes, books and playtime. This action-packed program engages new walkers in language-based activities.

Birth to Three Storytime Online 
Babies & toddlers ages 0-3 (with a favorite adult) enjoy fun, interactive songs, rhymes, bounces and stories. Learn early literacy and child development tips to help build your child's emerging language skills.
Offered online only.

Toddler Storytime
Two-year-olds (with a favorite adult) enjoy interactive stories, songs and games that encourage their emerging language skills.

Preschool Storytime
Children from ages 3 to 6 (with a favorite adult) are invited to join for stories, songs and activities as they build their early literacy skills.

Preschool Sensory Storytime
This preschool storytime is especially welcoming for children on the spectrum and families who are looking for a more adaptive library experience. Most enjoyable for children 3 to 5. Online and in person.

Family Storytime
Children from birth to age 6 (with a favorite adult) enjoy books, songs, rhymes and movement activities while building language and literacy skills. Online and in person.

Pajama Storytime
Put on your pajamas, grab a bedtime buddy and join for stories, songs and fun. For children 6 years and younger with an adult.
Also offered as a bilingual storytime in Spanish and English.

Outdoor Family Storytime
Read, sing, dance and play in local parks during the summer. Bring a blanket to sit on, a hat or sunglasses, and bottled water. Offered during the summer.

Symphony Storytime
Each week, an Oregon Symphony musician will add music to the stories your Youth Librarian has chosen. Stay for an instrument “petting zoo” after each session. Most enjoyable for ages 3 to 5. Offered every few years based on symphony schedule.

Drag Queen Storytime
The library is proud to present an hour of kid-friendly drag! Join us for this special storytime featuring our fabulous queens reading stories about inclusion and diversity, followed by a craft and dance party. Offered a few times a year based on performer schedule.

Rainbow Storytime
Culturally relevant and identity-supporting storytime for families with parents or children who identify as LGBTQ+.

Black Storytime
The African and African American experience comes alive with books, stories, songs and movement activities in a positive and affirming environment to build crucial language and literacy skills.

Native Story Hour
Come sing, listen, learn and celebrate. Join us for this story hour featuring songs and books from Native cultures. Children, families, elders, aunties and uncles — everyone is welcome. Online.

Hora de Cuentos / Cuentos y Canciones / Spanish Storytime
Culturally relevant family storytime presented in Spanish. Also be offered for specific age groups, such as Hora de cuentos para bebés.

粵語故事时间 / Chinese (Cantonese) Storytime
Culturally relevant bilingual family storytime presented in Cantonese.

讲故事时间! 网上現场国语 / It's Chinese Storytime! Live
Culturally relevant virtual family storytime presented in Mandarin. Online. 

Giờ Đọc Sách Tiếng Việt / Vietnamese Storytime
Culturally relevant family storytime presented in Vietnamese.
