Whether you're a music enthusiast eager to learn the art of mixing or a curious individual intrigued by the world of electronic music, this program offers an immersive and hands-on introduction to the craft of DJing.

Discover the rich history and culture of DJing, from its origins in hip-hop and dance music to its evolution into a global phenomenon. Explore the role of DJs as curators of sound, storytellers, and entertainers, and gain insight into the technical skills and creative intuition required to excel in this dynamic art form.

We will cover the essential tools of the trade, including DJ controllers, mixers, turntables, and software platforms. Learn how to set up and configure your equipment, navigate DJ software interfaces, and understand the basics of beatmatching, cueing, and mixing. As well as learning how to structure and build a compelling DJ set. Discover strategies for selecting and organizing tracks, creating thematic narratives, and engaging your audience through pacing, energy, and flow.

Enhance your professional competencies by beginning to utilize the capabilities possible with Microsoft Excel. Students will be introduced to critical Excel functions such as creating graphs and tables from data sets, becoming familiar with tools to sort and filter large data sets, and enhance the efficiency of their data entry. This course offers students a space to build a strong foundation for understanding a complex software program and the opportunity to explore potential applications for using Microsoft Excel.

Microsoft Excel Class Objectives:

• Learn how to interact with and access the application.
• Get started making charts and using keyboard shortcuts.
• Explore using formulas, equations, tables, and graphs.
• Discover conditional formatting and other page layout options.
• Review how to check, protect and share workbooks.

Computer Basics works to assist those who haven’t ever opened a computer, while enhancing the knowledge of casual users on how to get the most from their time spent in front of the computer screen.

This course offers students the opportunity to create an email account to assist in learning additional skills offered in our other Google Suite classes. The Gmail class will guide learners through the process of account creation and help them navigate the use of categories within their inbox, along with advanced features, such as creating professional signatures and utilizing filters and tools to enhance email productivity.

Using basic, beginner-friendly techniques, create unique small projects in clay. In honor of Arab-American Heritage Month, artist Jess Graff will provide images and context of South West Asian and North African Ceramics that have inspired them as a Lebanese-American artist. 

This is a two-part class with a two-week gap, held on April 19 and May 5th. (The original first session was April 5th, but was canceled and rescheduled.) Between classes, student creations will be fired in a kiln. Participants must attend both sessions.

Gain a greater understanding of the power and use cases for Cloud Storage through the lens of Google Drive. Building upon the Gmail class, the Google Drive class offers students an introduction to the integration of the Google ecosystem. Students will learn the benefits of using cloud storage, allowing them to further understand how to upload, create, and interact with file storage. This class also introduces students to Google Drive for Businesses, reviewing the differences between Shared Drives and cloud file sharing.

Google Drive Class Objectives:

• Learn how to access a Google Drive account, the home page, and menu options.
• Get started with uploading, creating, interacting, searching, and storing files.
• Discover what makes Shared drives and “Shared with Me” drives different.
• Review the differences between desktop and mobile versions.

Explore the potential of the free word processing software—Google Docs. This class (which requires students have a Google Account) introduces students to the formatting of Google Docs and allows students to explore the system of drop-down menus to format, create, and insert objects into a document. Unique to this class, which is in a Cloud based software environment, instruction demonstrates the downloading, uploading, and sharing of Doc files.
