Calling all teens in grades 6-12! Come make something cool, learn a new skill, and meet friendly people in this teen-friendly space. Creative Learning Room staff and volunteers will teach you how to use our tech equipment to design things and express yourself. Project examples include 3D printers, craft cutters, sewing machines, custom t-shirts and tote bags, tons of art supplies for painting, jewelry making, and more.

Learn to play the guitar or ukulele in a welcoming environment! Open to ages 8 and up, this program lets you explore these instruments in 20-minute sessions with guidance from a dedicated instructor.

Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog. The dogs and handlers are from Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Dove Lewis Portland Area Canine Therapy Teams, Paws for Love, and Pet Partners®.

Join us for our Annual Juneteenth Spirit of Freedom Event! It is a day to honor Black history, celebrate resilience, and enjoy the power of community. Featuring storytime in the morning and Makola Performing Arts in the afternoon!

Learn how to create your own ribbon skirts from start to finish! Measure fabric and select ribbons to sew your project to take home. This workshop welcomes all levels of sewing experience. Join an opportunity to celebrate your tribal heritage and culture in a supportive, creative space. Presented by Native library staff. Join us celebrating the beauty and resilience of Black hair! Design and paint a canvas inspired by natural hair with The Lamb Art Studio. Decorate your canvas with beads as symbols of cultural joy and self-love. This class is trauma-informed and wellness-based. Sessions run 3 hours - please bring snacks if you would like!

Join Wren Bird Arts for an information packed, sashiko inspired visible mending for denim & wovens workshop. With hands-on practice, you’ll learn this simple, but useful patterned stitching technique for patching denim and other woven textiles. This is a great class for beginners and seasoned hand stitchers alike with an interest in how mending can be both functional and beautiful.

Come play American Mahjong at the library and connect with community! Experienced players welcome are invited to join our fun and friendly group. Be sure to bring your current National Mah Jongg League cards.
