Kids will love making noise with Kids Junk Orchestra! Through the use of non-conventional items such as buckets and recycled items, youth learn how to create various sounds and rhythms. This class focuses on group cooperation, basic rhythm drumming skills, team building, specialized drumming instruction and a safe environment to perform musically.

Walidah Imarisha will uncover the truths buried in the fantastical – and inject a healthy dose of the fantastical into our search for truth.

Join us for a film screening of OPB's Oregon Experience documentary, The Flooding of Vanport. During the early 1940s, Vanport, Oregon was the second largest city in the state. But on a Sunday afternoon in May 1948, it disappeared completely—destroyed by a catastrophic flood. This is the story of Vanport: what it was like to live there, how it suddenly ended, and how it changed the face of Portland, OR.

Celebrate Black History Month through the art of floral design. In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the cultural significance of flowers and botanical traditions within the African diaspora while creating their own unique arrangement. Guided by floral designer Toyin Oyemaja, attendees will learn basic floral techniques, discover meaningful symbolism, and honor Black creativity and heritage through nature-inspired expression.

Join us to screen the documentary, Beyond the Beats, a short history of hip-hop in Portland produced in conjunction with Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) and KMHD Jazz. Following the film there will be a discussion panel led by director J Jackson with some influential Portlanders of hip-hop talking about the scene.
