Calling all Teens in grades 6-12! Want to level up your costume with fake tattoos or body paint, but don't want to get messy? Join us for a crafty afternoon to make your own cosplay arm sock. This workshop is presented by our friends Black Bettie Cosplay and Azimedes Cosplay, who have loads of experience in crafting their own costumes using fabrics, stenciling, heat transfer vinyl, and all sorts of other DIY fun.

Registration opens June 4th.

Learn to source and repurpose materials, reduce environmental impact, and create statement quilts with text, imagery, and bold messages. Ideal for quilters, fiber artists, and those interested in textile activism. Lead by Sara Flynn, member of Portland Modern Quilt Guild. View their exhibit, "Stitched Resistance and Unbound Voices," in the Collins Gallery on the 3rd floor before or after this program. 

This program will be held in Community Room 1A.

The 2023 Women’s History Month theme is “Celebrate Women Who Tell Our Stories.” We are highlighting women storytellers who work in print, radio, TV, podcasts and other media.

Kwanzaa fabric painting

North Portland Library has been participating in community-wide Kwanzaa celebrations for decades, hosting art exhibits, book displays and events. Incorporating the seven guiding principles of Kwanzaa is “Isis,” a piece of art, created in 1992, by local artist Charlotte Lewis and acquired by Multnomah County Library in 2001.
