Holgate Library history
Holgate Library opened in its current location in 1971, replacing the Arleta and Lents branch libraries, which had been serving this region of Southeast Portland since the early 1900s. The library was renovated in 2000. In 2020, Multnomah County voters approved a capitol bond project to build and modernize library buildings. The new Holgate Library reopened in 2024.
Hillsdale Library history
Though not officially named “Hillsdale” until the 1980s, the Southwest Portland neighborhood library had been serving residents in the area for decades prior. The current building holds LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification, with some of the materials coming from local manufacturers. The building was designed by Thomas Hacker and Associates Architects, Inc.
At the end of every month, I look over what I've read and pick the best, the jewel, the cream of the crop. At the end of the year, I try to choose the best book I've read this year.
Cosplay Armsock Crafting with Black Bettie & Azimedes
Calling all Teens in grades 6-12! Want to level up your costume with fake tattoos or body paint, but don't want to get messy? Join us for a crafty afternoon to make your own cosplay arm sock. This workshop is presented by our friends Black Bettie Cosplay and Azimedes Cosplay, who have loads of experience in crafting their own costumes using fabrics, stenciling, heat transfer vinyl, and all sorts of other DIY fun.

Sellwood-Moreland Library history
Sellwood-Moreland Library began as a reading room in 1905. In 2002, after several relocations, this Southeast Portland library found its new home in a mixed-use facility.

Equity and inclusion
The library centers the voices of the most impacted by racism and systems of oppression. We recognize and honor their strength, wisdom and knowledge. The library’s mission is to empower diverse communities to learn and create.
Several books have been written about the history of color design in the United States. Most focus on exterior color schemes, but some also discuss historic uses of interior color.
Native Family: Monthly Native Heritage Storytime
Children ages birth to 6 along with their families, elders, aunties and uncles are welcome for songs and stories celebrating Native cultures and building language and literacy skills. Presented by Native library staff.
Attendance is limited and free tickets are available 15 minutes before storytime.

The Indigenous team of Multnomah County Library
In 2021 the library formed an Indigenous team to provide better representation of Indigenous people in the library. The Indigenous team strives to offer multi-generational programs and better access to resources. They also create displays that value elders, youth, storytelling, tradition and activism.
