Kwanzaa fabric painting now at Portland Art Museum
North Portland Library has been participating in community-wide Kwanzaa celebrations for decades, hosting art exhibits, book displays and events. Incorporating the seven guiding principles of Kwanzaa is “Isis,” a piece of art, created in 1992, by local artist Charlotte Lewis and acquired by Multnomah County Library in 2001.

General Land Office Records (Website)
Live access to Federal land conveyance records for the Public Land States, including image access to Federal land title records issued between 1820 and the present. It also has images of survey plats and field notes dating back to 1810. Due to the organization of documents in the GLO collection, this site currently contains only some Federal title records issued for the Public Land States.
Multnomah County Library hosts a successful series of Drag Queen Storytimes
Multnomah County Library branches celebrated pride this year with book displays, in-person activities, outreach events, and the special return of its popular Drag Queen Storytime events.
On June 19th, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas with news that the U.S. Civil War had ended, marking the end of slavery for African Americans.

Multnomah County Library’s Summer Reading program encourages kids, teens, and families to read throughout the summer. With hundreds of kids signed up each year to participate, Summer Reading relies on youth volunteers to keep everything running smoothly.
