Graphic Novel Club grades 6-8
Middle school students are invited to talk about comics and eat snacks! Every meeting includes a short activity related to this month's book. A limited number of books are available for pick up at the library.
This month our book is Squished! All Avery Lee wants is her own space to make art, but she lives with six siblings, and has to share a room. Totally squished! When her older brother gets his own room (which she thinks is TOTALLY unfair, her art needs the space more than he does) she decides to find a way to get one of her own. But things get complicated when she finds out they might move across the country!

Our book this month, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind by Hayao Miyazaki (anime director of Spirited Away, Ponyo, The Boy and the Heron) is about a warrior princess named Nausicaä, with a strong connection to nature, in a world where nature is slowly reclaiming the planet. So we’re making mini-terrariums with moss and decorative toy mushrooms to reflect the healing power of nature!
Family Art Lab
