School Corps

The Multnomah County Library School Corps helps students in grades K-12 to succeed in school and improve their reading by mastering public library resources. School Corps services are available to the students, teachers, student teachers and school library staff of Multnomah County. Multnomah County Library’s School Corps team has been connecting students in local classrooms with the library for 25 years. During that time the team has reached more than 83,000 students with 131,000 books, saving 8,700 hours of educator time. The School Corps librarians can help your students flourish.

We offer a variety of services to Multnomah County schools and other programs which serve school-age youth. To book a presentation or request a service, please contact School Corps at 503.988.6004 or lib.school.corps@multcolib.org

Buckets of Books & Booklists

Buckets of Books contain 24-30 books on a topic plus a teacher's guide. If the bucket you need is checked out you can view the corresponding booklist and place holds on individual titles.

Customized book collection (grades K-12)

If we don't have a Bucket of Books or booklist on your topic, we can create a customized book collection and send one copy of each book on the list to a nearby library for you to check out. Requires a three-week lead time. To request a customized booklist, send us a School Corps assignment alert.

Customized webliography (grades K-12)

Let us create an annotated list of websites on a topic to help your students with their research. To request a webliography, send us a School Corps assignment alert.

Presentations

School Corps librarians can virtually visit your classroom. We'll discuss your technology needs when you contact us to schedule the presentation. All services are free of charge.

School Corps offers in-person and virtual educator workshops during the summer. We can also present at district meetings and in-service days. If you would like us to present a workshop during the school year, please contact School Corps at 503.988.6004 or lib.school.corps@multcolib.org
