Makerspace drop-in for adults
What will you create? Bring your ideas, inventions, and projects to share or to get help on. Space is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
To attend this program, you need to have basic computer skills and know how to use a computer with a mouse. If you are new to computers, entry-level computer classes and one-on-one assistance are available at the library.

Lego Club
Join us for a fun and imaginative LEGO building session. We'll provide the building blocks, you bring the creativity! Ideal for grades K-5, but younger and older siblings are welcome.

New Holgate Library: Two Generations of Hoop Dance
Two talented Indigenous hoop dancers will share their culture and skills through the art of hoop dance, followed by a Q & A session. Hoop dancing originated as a healing ceremony and continues to be practiced and shared as a form of Indigenous tradition, artistic expression and cultural sharing opportunity. Hoops are utilized to make formations that honor various animals and nature, as well as new and creative designs.
Intercambio / Language Exchange
Practique inglés o español y ayude a los demás que están aprendiendo en un ambiente amable. Los participantes hablan la mitad del tiempo en inglés y la otra en español. Están bienvenidos los principiantes.
Practice English or Spanish and help other learners in a friendly atmosphere. Participants speak half the time in English and half in Spanish. Beginners welcome.
Urban Head Wrapping
Learn techniques for creating different styles of head wrapping with Shalonda Menefee of SISTAS Empowerment! Please bring your own head wrap if you have one. Fabric will also be provided for practice. This event will be located in Community Room 1A.

Making Comics to Change the World
Comics are a great way to tell stories and make people laugh, but did you know they can also bring positive change to the world? Join Wildfire cartoonist Breena Bard for this workshop demonstrating the basics of making comics, designing characters, and writing a script. Then put your skills to work to write a one-page comic about an issue you care about! Let's change the world, one comic at a time.
Kamishibai: Japanese Music & Storytelling
The TAKOHACHI Duo Project revives an ancient art form by offering original Kamishibai "Arigato Octopus Band" performances accompanied by live music featuring instruments such as shinobue bamboo flute and tsugaru shamisen. Come enjoy the storytelling and learn Japanese folk dances. Fun for the whole family!
