Juneteenth at Midland

Join us for a Juneteenth celebration at Midland Library! The theme of the day will be plants, nature, and Black liberation. 

Portland Parks & Recreation's Urban Forestry will take the whole family on a journey into our urban forest. Celebrate our roots and how greatly we have grown together. Come sing, read, and create art inspired by Black freedom and beautiful trees! 

Afterwards, we'll be planting seeds and learning about plant growth with Black Futures Farm. While planting, we'll discuss Black agriculture, liberation, and the history of Juneteenth. For adults and teens.

Learn to build cosplay armor out of EVA foam in this LIVE workshop! Led by expert makers, this 2-hr session introduces the foam smithing tools and techniques used to create epic cosplay armor. AND, you’ll walk out of this workshop with a piece of armor in-hand (that’s right! - you’re building armor with the pros!). If you’re ready to get started creating but are unsure where to start, this is a must-attend event. Materials and tools will be provided.

Registration will open on October 18th.

Pride: Indigiqueer Pride Gathering

Launch Pride month at the Multnomah County Library on June 1, 2025 with an Indigiqueer Pride Gathering, featuring Two-Spirit performers and events. Join us in honoring the voices and experiences of the Two Spirit and Indigiqueer community. 

This variety show will serve as an opportunity for Two Spirit presenters to shine. Come enjoy a special Pride storytime and art activities for children; a presentation by special Two-Spirit guests Lorne James; and local musician Fyre Daway’s songs.

This event is open to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and their allies. This is an all ages event.
 

Pride: Family Pride Party

Protecting Yourself Online

Curious about the basics of staying safe online? Come to this class to learn what you can do to easily protect yourself online with managing more secure passwords, avoiding online scams, controlling privacy with your social media accounts and more. Computers are available to use or bring your own.
