Raised by his grandparents, the first people in his family to be born free, Newel’s grandma sang songs such as “Loop de Loo,” “Miss Mary Mac,” “Ham Bone” and “Shortnin’ Bread.” Learn about the history behind the songs and the evolution of African American music through his stories.

Have fun with books and stories, songs, and movement in a positive and affirming environment. Black Storytime builds language and literacy skills your child needs to be ready for kindergarten.

Attendance is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

Learn parametric 3D modeling, t-spline sculpting, and model refinement in Fusion 360 from supportive experts, then bring your creative vision to reality. Objects will be printed after camp concludes and will be available for pickup at the library.

Grades 6-12. Presenters Maz and Attero have been 3D designing and printing since 2014. They run an Etsy shop and have led workshops for all ages in schools and libraries. They will be patient and do their best to help you learn.

Rockwood Makerspace programming is made possible by gifts to The Library Foundation, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting Multnomah County Library’s innovative and groundbreaking work.

Registration opens June 24.
