Citizenship Class - 12 sessions
Learn about the process of becoming a citizen in a 12-week series of classes. Prepare for your citizenship interview. Study United States history and government for the examination. Classes are taught by a volunteer from SOAR Legal.

Desmitificar la IA con Ramón Alvarado
Las tecnologías de la Inteligencia Artificial se han vuelto omnipresentes recientemente, desde aplicaciones de chat y búsqueda hasta sistemas de recomendación en nuestras plataformas de entretenimiento y redes sociales, pasando por usos financieros y médicos e incluso interacciones sociales. Esto ha generado un ciclo reciente de exageración y preocupación respecto de las posibles limitaciones, daños e incluso promesas de dichas tecnologías. Aunque algunas de estas preocupaciones pueden estar justificadas, existe mucha confusión respecto a los peligros y oportunidades que ofrecen estas tecnologías. En esta charla pretendo desmitificar las tecnologías de Inteligencia Artificial y explicar, de manera accesible, cómo funcionan, dónde funcionan y cuándo funcionan, para que juntos podamos pensar más claramente cuáles son sus implicaciones éticas y así, juntos, mejor decidir cuándo/dónde/o si es queremos estas tecnologías en nuestras vidas.

¡Vengan a disfrutar y divertirse en este programa interactivo para niños de 0 a 6 años! Ofrecemos actividades que promueven la alfabetización temprana, leyendo libros, cantando, jugando y haciendo manualidades. Los padres de familia, hermanos mayores de 6 años y cuidadores son bienvenidos. Este programa se presenta en español.

Book Babies
Babies from birth to 12 months (with a favorite adult) enjoy songs, action rhymes, and playtime and share a book together in each lively Book Babies session. Book Babies gives your baby the opportunity to hear lots of language while you get to know other young families.

Preschool Sensory Storytime
This preschool storytime is especially welcoming for children ages 3-5 and families who are looking for a smaller, more adaptive library experience.
Our social stories can help children prepare for attending storytime by learning what to expect through images and text. Click on your location from the list of locations to read your library’s "Preschool Sensory Storytime social story" or read the Sensory Storytime Online social story.

Demystifying AI, with Ramón Alvarado
From ChatGPT to risk assessment algorithms, the use of machine-learning tools is increasing. Philosopher and data ethicist Ramón Alvarado grapples with questions of trust and bias in the implementation of AI. How is it possible for humans to place trust in something they don't (and can't) understand? In what scenarios is it appropriate to use AI? How can we protect ourselves from algorithmic bias?
Teen Anime Club
Do you love anime? Are you in middle school or high school? If so, join our Anime Club! We meet two times a month at the Rockwood Library Makerspace to watch anime, discuss our favorite series, and eat yummy snacks. We can talk about mangas, do anime crafts, and design anime-themed materials as well!
Learn and Play Go
In this gentle introduction to the world’s oldest continuously played strategy board game, you'll learn the basics and play with others. Build your strategic thinking and logic skills, improve your concentration and meet a community of friendly Go players. All ages are welcome, with a suggested age of 10 and up. Offered by Portland Go Club and instructor Fillard Spring-Rhyne.
