Learn to play the violin in a welcoming, drop-in environment! Open to ages 8 and up, this program lets you explore the instrument with guidance from a dedicated instructor. Lessons are first-come, first-served, every 20 minutes. Sign up outside Room 1J or drop in if a slot is open.

Join us for a fun and imaginative LEGO building session. We'll provide the building blocks, you bring the creativity! Ideal for grades K-5, but younger and older siblings are welcome.  

Help your librarian choose the best books, movies, comics, programs and events for you and your friends. Have fun working on special projects, making new friends, and creating the perfect library for you! This is a volunteer position and snacks will be provided. For kids ages 9-12.

Meet one-on-one with a friendly, knowledgeable Tech Helper who will help you find answers to questions about mobile devices, websites, getting started with tech, and more.

Appointments are on a first come, first served basis.

This preschool storytime is especially welcoming for children ages 3-5 and families who are looking for a smaller, more adaptive library experience.

This class will show you how to get started using your iPhone or iPad. You’ll learn to:

• Navigate around your device
• Find and control all of your settings
• Find and use apps
• Take pictures, send text messages, and use the internet

Join Shira Fogel as we sing, dance, and learn together!

Shira has worked with children as an educator for 20+ years, and an educator to parents and caregivers, local and worldwide, for over 15 years! As the owner/instructor of Tiny Talkers Portland, she has a deep understanding on fostering early communication skills and supporting them in playful ways throughout early childhood.

Central Library, beloved by the community since 1913, is now open with modern enhancements for you to enjoy!

Join us for a 45 minutes walking tour through the building.  No registration required.
