Parent and caregivers and invited to get creative with their children during Family Craft Time. We will use colorful tissue paper to make a beautiful picture frame. Add a photo, and it makes a great gift! Children can create with assistance from their parents and caregivers or work independently alongside them. For grades K-5.

If you have been wanting to learn how to use a computer but haven’t known where to begin, this is the class for you! You’ll learn about:

• Essential terms and symbols
• Using a mouse and other important tools
• The basics of using the internet
• Resources to continue your learning

Computers will be provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own laptop computer.

Learn to repair small holes in knit fabric with surface darning. Bring some clean socks (or sweater) with small holes from home to practice. We'll provide basic instruction and darning tools.

Help your librarian choose the best books, programs and events for you and your friends. Have fun working on special projects, making new friends, and creating the perfect library for you! This is a volunteer position and snacks will be provided. For tweens in grades 4-6.

Investigate real insects and create detailed nature-based drawings and paintings. This event is aimed at kids and families.

Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog. The dogs and handlers are from Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Dove Lewis Portland Area Canine Therapy Teams and Pet Partners®. Call 503.988.5123 to register.

Learn how to keep your personal information safe and secure when you’re using a computer or smartphone. We will go over how to adjust settings on devices and how to be mindful while using the internet. Then we'll discuss common email and social media scams and schemes and some of the ways you can increase your protection from them. Computers will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your smartphone and/or other devices.

Kids in grades 4-5 are invited to talk about graphic novels and eat snacks! Every meeting includes a short activity related to this month's book. A limited number of books are available for pick up at the library. Our book for this month will be Garlic and the Vampire.
