Events & Classes

Virtual Tutoring is for Multnomah County students in grades K-12 who need support in language arts, math, science or social studies. 

We offer three terms a year, each running for 8 weeks.

The student’s weekly appointment will be for 30 minutes on Tuesdays, sometime between 4 and 6 pm. They will be assigned an exact timeslot and tutor prior to the start of the term. These remain the same for the entire term.

Children ages birth to 6 along with their families and friends are welcome to enjoy Native culture through singing, movement, crafts, and stories. Everyone is welcome! Presented by Native library staff. Attendance is limited and free tickets are available 15 minutes before storytime.

This preschool storytime is especially welcoming for children and families who are looking for a more adaptive virtual storytime experience. This program is intended for children and their caregivers. Participants may be asked to identify themselves either through camera, chat, or by unmuting. If you would like to attend as an observer, please contact us at 503.988.5123.  

Kids in grades 2-3 and their favorite adults are invited to talk about graphic novels and eat snacks! Every meeting includes a short activity related to this month's book. A limited number of books are available for pick up at the library.

Toddlers (with a favorite adult) enjoy interactive stories, songs and games that encourage their emerging language skills. Storytime ends with 15 minutes of art and open play.

Children from birth to age 6 (with a favorite adult) enjoy books, songs, rhymes and movement activities while building language and literacy skills. Storytime is followed by a play time or craft activity. Attendance is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

Ofrecemos actividades que promueven la alfabetización temprana, leyendo libros, cantando, jugando y haciendo manualidades. Los padres, hermanos mayores de 6 años y cuidadores son bienvenidos. Este programa se presenta en español. La asistencia es limitada y hay entradas gratuitas disponibles 15 minutos antes de la hora de cuentos.

Week 1: Collaborative Art (quilt, collage, collaborative drawing, gratitude tree, etc.)
Week 2: Lego Lab
Week 3: Afternoon Art take home craft (exploring watercolors, sculpture with air dry clay, pom pom animals, collage, etc.)
Week 4: STEAM Studio (Science/Engineering, Rube Goldberg Machines, Cardboard construction, Sphero obstacle courses, Minute to Win It Challenges, Marble Runs, etc.)

Join us for a fun and imaginative LEGO building session. We'll provide the building blocks, you bring the creativity! Ideal for grades K-5, but younger and older siblings are welcome.
