Join us at Capitol Hill for Freedom Fridays this Juneteenth season!
Today, we're adorning ourselves in Freedom and celebrating heritage. In this craft, staff will lead children in making African style necklaces, while learning about the history of Juneteenth.
Tween Council
Help your librarian choose the best books, programs and events for you and your friends. Have fun working on special projects, making new friends, and creating the perfect library for you! This is a volunteer position and snacks will be provided. For tweens in grades 4-6.
Read to the Dogs
Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog. The dogs and handlers are from Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Dove Lewis Portland Area Canine Therapy Teams and Pet Partners®. Call 503.988.5123 to register.

Makerspace drop-in for adults
What will you create? Bring your ideas, inventions, and projects to share or to get help on. Space is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
To attend this program, you need to have basic computer skills and know how to use a computer with a mouse. If you are new to computers, entry-level computer classes and one-on-one assistance are available at the library.
Music and Dance
Enjoy songs, rhymes, rhythm and dance in this active program for children ages 0 to 6 and their parents or caregivers.
Attendance is limited and free tickets are available 15 minutes before storytime.

Juneteenth: Charles Henry Turner's World of Insects
Have you ever stopped to watch those creatures that scurry around in your yard or fly past you? Those are bugs and insects, nature's tiny superheroes! For every one person on Earth, there are about 200 million bugs! They come in all colors and shapes, with some cool stories to tell.

This workshop covers how to craft music on the digital audio workstation Ableton Live. Discover the fundamentals as we delve into beat-making, sound design and arranging tracks. Learn how to manipulate samples, utilize MIDI instruments and employ effects to shape your unique sound.
Two-Spirit Rainbow Family Storytime
Culturally relevant and identity-supporting storytime for families with parents or children from birth to age 6 (with a favorite adult) who identify as Two-Spirit/LGBTQ+ and their allies. Come sing, listen, learn and celebrate an hour of kid-friendly Two-Spirit and Indigequeer songs and books. Children, families, elders, aunties and uncles — everyone is welcome.
