East County Library opening weekend celebration programming made possible by gifts to The Library Foundation.

Enjoy traditional mariachi --"Musica Mexicana."  Enjoy the beautiful and enchanting rhythms and voices as the doors to the East County Library open to the public at 10AM. They will also be playing at the beginning of the ribbon cutting ceremony, which takes place from 9-10am on the North Plaza near the MAX station.

Celebrate the East County Library’s grand opening with a drop-in style art room for all ages with The Lamb Art Studio. Up to 20–30 participants can join at a time, with 200 total projects available. Activities range from 15-minute crafts to 1-hour projects. These include stencils, people of different cultures and flags representing Gresham’s diversity. There's also wooden animal painting!

Toddlers (with a favorite adult) enjoy interactive stories, songs and games that encourage their emerging language skills. Attendance is limited and free tickets are available 15 minutes before storytime.

The African and African American experience comes alive for children from birth to age 6 (with their favorite adult/family members). Have fun with books and stories, songs, and movement activities in a positive and affirming environment. Black Storytime builds language and literacy skills your child needs to be ready for kindergarten. Attendance is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

DJ Jumbo is a music producer, DJ, and emcee originally from North East Portland, Oregon. He is a member of the iconic Portland hip-hop group, Lifesavas.

Cuando hace calor, no hay nada tan refrescante que una paleta. Aprenda a hacer tres paletas diferentes, dos de leche y una de agua. Dos paletas cremosas una de fresa y otra de mango, una paleta de agua de sandía.

¡El espacio es limitado! Es preferido registrarse pero no requerido. La inscripción se abre 25 de abril. 

Join us for a laid-back community percussion jam! This casual get-together is open to everyone, whether you've been playing for years or just want to make some noise. Families and kids are welcome, no musical experience needed. A variety of drums and hand percussion instruments will be available for everyone to use! If you have a favorite drum or shaker at home, feel free to bring it along!
