We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, forward-thinking Black Cultural Competency librarian who has experience with and a passion for working with the Black and African American community. You must be creative, culturally competent, and customer service-focused. You will be joining a team of library professionals at Central Library in downtown Portland and will be responsible for building and maintaining professional relationships with Central Library’s patrons as well as collaborating with appropriate stakeholders within Central Library’s community and the library system as a whole. As a Black Cultural Competency Teen Librarian, your primary purpose is to engage the Black and African American teen (ages 13-18) community in order to create lasting bonds with the library. You will work within your assigned location but also within your designated library region to provide services to the Black and African American teen community served within that region. You work closely with your regional staff colleagues and are a liaison between the local branch, regional, and systemwide Youth Services and culturally specific teams.
