New Holgate Library opens July 13 with ribbon cutting ceremony

PORTLAND, Ore.--July 3, 2024

Multnomah County Library is excited to celebrate the grand opening of the brand new Holgate Library with three, fun-filled days of activities for the community and you’re invited. These events will run from Saturday, July 13 to Monday, July 15 beginning with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, July 13. 

**Due to the level of activity on Saturday, July 13, members of the media are invited to tour the new building early, on Tuesday, July 9. The press tour will meet in the first floor lobby. At this time, media can get photos of the completed building, explore new features and learn about the increased space, public art and more at Holgate. **

Ribbon cutting ceremony 

What: Holgate Library ribbon cutting ceremony as part of Multnomah County Library Capital Building Projects, brief remarks and photo opportunity

When: Saturday, July 13, 9:30-10 am

Where: Holgate Library (7905 SE Holgate Blvd, Portland, OR 97206)

Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson will join Holgate Library’s ribbon cutting ceremony along with former Director of Libraries Vailey Oehlke and Community Design Advocate Dominique Garcia. 

Following the remarks and ribbon cutting, community celebrations will begin with the White Lotus Dance Team, followed by Indigenous hoop dancers, face painting and more. Patrons can stay up-to-date on the library website
