Everybody Reads: Teacher application for classroom participation

Participate in Everybody Reads 2025, the library’s annual community reading project, taking place January through March. This year’s selection is Javier Zamora’s Solito.

Apply for free copies of Solito for your Multnomah County high school, thanks to the support of The Library Foundation. Sets will be available in Spanish or English.

Application deadline and agreements

  1. Deadline: Submit your application by November 20, 2024.
  2. Commitment: By applying, you commit to reading and discussing the book during the program period (January-March 2025). 
  3. Who can apply: High school educators, school book groups, high school administrators and community organizations.

Selection process

  • Schools and organizations with the greatest educational and financial need will receive first consideration for classroom sets.
  • We will notify you by Dec. 15 if your application is approved. 
  • Recipients will receive a classroom set of Solito, with a link to a discussion guide and further reading.

  • Migration and immigration
  • Unaccompanied minors
  • Friendship
  • Grief
  • Identity
  • Coming of age
  • Food and culture

Author lecture

Javier Zamora will give an author lecture, presented by Literary Arts, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Literary Arts makes a number of free tickets available to participating schools.
