New Albina Library opens July 19 with ribbon cutting ceremony

 Community celebrations follow July 19-20 with music, dancing and fun; photos and B-roll footage available of new Albina Library

PORTLAND, Ore.--July 18, 2025

Multnomah County Library is excited to celebrate the grand opening of Albina Library with two, fun-filled days of activities for the community and you’re invited. These events will run from Saturday, July 19 to Sunday, July 20 beginning with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, July 19.

What: Albina Library ribbon cutting ceremony as part of Multnomah County Library Capital Building Projects, brief remarks and photo opportunity

When: Saturday, July 19, 9:30-10 am

Where: Albina Library (205 NE Russell Street, Portland, OR 97212)

Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson will join Albina Library’s ribbon cutting ceremony along with District 2 Policy Advisor Salomé Chimuku; Director of Libraries Annie Lewis; Department of County Assets Director & Chief Information Officer Tracey Massey; and Bernadine Clay, retired member of Portland Public Schools.

Following the remarks and ribbon cutting, community celebrations will begin with a performance by Hip Hop Soulsation, followed by flower origami, music and more.
