East County Library event rentals

East County Library offers two exceptional spaces for private event rental: the Auditorium and the Rooftop Terrace. These areas are available for community gatherings, including lectures, workshops, performances and private events.

Before requesting a rental, please review our East County Library Auditorium and Rooftop Terrace Use policy to understand costs, insurance requirements and rules of use.

Please note:

Fundraising and acceptance of donations at events held in these spaces is only allowed by 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.
The library does not permit commercial activity in these spaces (including charging admission fees).
Alcohol is not allowed.

Request a rental space

Submit a rental application. Rentals can be requested up to six months in advance. We require 60 days notice. Recurring reservations are not allowed.
After the library’s review and acceptance of the application, the applicant must submit a $50 nonrefundable application fee. If an application is approved, the fee is applied toward the total rental fee.
Reservations are not final until the library has received from the user a signed license agreement, full payment, and certificate(s) of insurance at least 30 days prior to the event, and the library has also signed the license.

East County Library Auditorium

The Auditorium is a specialized indoor space with high-quality audiovisual equipment and technology, including a large projection screen, microphones and high-quality sound. The room offers flexible seating arrangements. When the risers are extended, there are 192 seats and 7 wheelchair spaces.

Rental hours

The Auditorium is available to rent for up to eight hours (including setup, teardown and cleaning) during the following times:

Tuesday and Wednesday: 12 to 7:30 pm
Friday and Saturday: 10 am to 5:30 pm
Sunday: 12 to 5:30 pm

Rates

Additional fees may be included for security, janitorial services, program support, audiovisual support and additional county personnel. These additional fees will be assessed upon review of the application.

Auditorium Base Rates

Individual:

Up to 4 hours: $200
Up to 8 hours: $400

Nonprofit organizations and government agencies, including Multnomah County:

Up to 4 hours: $275
Up to 8 hours: $500

For-profit organizations:

Up to 4 hours: $375
Up to 8 hours: $700

Rooftop Terrace

The Rooftop Terrace is an outdoor space available for rental from June through October. It is available to rent up to a maximum of 4 hours, including setup, teardown and cleaning, during the following days and times:

Tuesday and Wednesday: 3 to 7 pm
Friday and Saturday: 10 am to 5 pm
Sunday: 12 to 5 pm

Capacity, configuration and setup

The Rooftop Terrace has a capacity of 100 people. There are tables and seating for up to 50. The setup and configuration of the space must be done by designated library or county staff. Any equipment brought in by vendors will need to be moved and set up by the vendor or user; library or county staff are not able to assist.

Rooftop equipment and technology

There is a dedicated portable audiovisual system with mics and speakers.
