Poetry Writing Workshop for Elders led by Willa Schneberg

Dom Ago 23
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

This workshop is in conjunction with what we hold & leave behind, an exhibit in Central Library's Collins Gallery, curated by photographer Jim Lommasson & poet Willa Schneberg. For this workshop, led by Willa Schneberg, participants will bring in their special objects and write poems about them. Willa will chronicle your special objects and poems for possible inclusion in the what we hold & leave behind project. No prior poetry writing experience necessary.

Registration preferred, but not required, and opens on August 2. This program is intended for elders of the community.

Poet Willa Schneberg is also a ceramic sculptor, and psychotherapist. Her sixth collection is The Naked Room. She received the Oregon Book Award, was on the Writer’s Almanac, was in-residence at Yaddo, MacDowell, Kathmandu, and will be at Essere in Tuscany this fall. Her poems are in American Poetry Review, Salmagundi and Poet Lore. She curates the annual reading of “Oregon Jewish Voices” at the Oregon Jewish Museum & Center for Holocaust Education.
