The Jefferson Dancers, the esteemed performing company of Jefferson High School-Middle College for Advanced Studies in the Portland Public School District, are now in their 49th year. They will perform at the ribbon cutting to open the library, with continued performance inside on the second floor.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Steve Gonzales, a former Jefferson Dancer with a distinguished career in performance, choreography, and teaching, the company continues to thrive. Comprising 18 dedicated dancers, the company balances full-time high school attendance with daily classes and rehearsals. Their training spans a variety of dance styles, including African, hip-hop, tap, jazz, modern, and classical ballet.
