As part of the library’s capital bond passed by voters in November 2020, Midland Library has been renovated and expanded from 24,400 square feet to 30,000 square feet. All of the updates are shaped by community input.

New spaces and features

The Library Foundation supported the creation of an interactive early learning space, creative learning activity bundles, study space for teens and a children’s garden, a secure outdoor space for families.

Come to Midland Library and explore all of the new features! There is something for everyone to enjoy:

  • An outdoor, interactive children’s garden
  • A sensory space
  • Community art gallery for patrons to display their artwork
  • Modern self-checkout stations to provide a better patron experience
  • and much more!

Celebrate the opening

Save the dates October 26 and 27 for two fun-filled days of activities. From origami to hula and more, check out what we have to offer and attend an event.

Centering the community

The transformational changes at Midland Library would not have been possible without community input. Midland Library supports one of the most culturally diverse areas of Multnomah County. It was especially important to hear what the community wanted to see at their library. Through focus groups, workshops and more, the design team and Community Design Advocates (a paid program for community members) worked with community groups to share how this library can best represent them.
