Professor David G. Lewis presents on Chemawa Indian Boarding School and its former superintendent Harwood Hall. During the course of his tenure, Hall used federal education as a way to assimilate Native students and destroy their cultural traditions for future generations. Ironically though, both Hall and his wife Rose, exploited Native art, culture and students as a way to elevate themselves socially. How they operated both Chemawa and Sherman Indian Schools will be discussed in-depth during this presentation.
