The Bigfoot Poetry Festival is a three-day poetry event that happens in early summer in downtown Portland. Poetry open mics, writing and performance workshops, poet showcases, an artists market, and a poetry slam tournament.
Summer Lunches 2026
Children ages 1-18 are invited to enjoy free summer lunch at Midland Library. No reservations/sign-ups required. Lunch is served cold and will be served indoors. We have coloring sheets and crafts! Please join us!

Come play chess at Hillsdale Library with friends and neighbors. All experience levels are welcome!
Teen drop-in: Get creative at the makerspace!
Calling all teens in grades 6-12! Come make something cool, learn a new skill, and meet friendly people in this teen-focused creative space. Makerspace staff and volunteers will teach you how to use our tech equipment to design things and express yourself. Project examples include 3D printers, craft cutters, sewing machines, custom t shirts and tote bags, tons of art supplies for painting, jewelry making, and more.

Pull up and join recording studio EXT.606 at the East County Library as we explore making beats, sample chopping, and music creation.
All of the tools to create are provided. Bring a project to work on, or come to learn how to get started.
Beginners and experienced musicians are welcome to learn, create, and connect. We can't wait to make music with you!

Guitar & Ukulele Lessons
Learn to play the guitar or ukulele in a welcoming environment! Open to ages 8 and up, this program lets you explore these instruments in 20-minute sessions with guidance from a dedicated instructor.

Read to the Dogs
Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog. The dogs and handlers are from Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Dove Lewis Portland Area Canine Therapy Teams, Paws for Love, and Pet Partners®.

Try out Capitol Hill's Nintendo Switch! Test new games or play old favorites, make friends, and build your gaming skills.
Read to the Dog
Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog. For kids and teens. Call 503.988.5123 to register.
Making Music with Ableton
Learn how to craft music on the digital audio workstation, Ableton Live. Discover the fundamentals of beat-making, sound design and arranging tracks. Mix samples, use MIDI instruments, and find effects to shape your own sound.
Novices or experienced producers are all welcome to learn in this creative session. Gain valuable insights and techniques for enhancing your music production skills. Bring your musical ideas to life!
Teen / Tween Craft Club
Tweens and teens are invited to get crafty! Come hang out with us and use your creative skills to make buttons, Shrinky Dinks, bracelets, felt stuffies and more awesome creations! All materials and supplies are provided. Ideal for teens and tweens (ages 9-18).
