Portland Insectarium is the city's first museum and zoo dedicated entirely to bugs! In this program there will be a selection of live bugs on display, such as tarantulas, mantises, and scorpions! Some are touchable bugs (roaches, isopods, millipedes), others preserved insect displays. Toys and other activities will be there to explore, plus experts to answer any questions! Suitable for all ages.

Students slide, slither and hop into herpetology, the science of reptiles. We'll get up close and personal with live snakes, lizards and turtles in order to study the features which make this class of animals unique. Discover that snakes are smooth and dry, lizards have no earlobes, and geckos can lick their eyeballs!

The Black History 101 Mobile Museum will display items from a collection of over 15,000 original artifacts of Black memorabilia dating from the painful transatlantic slave trade to the hip-hop era. The Museum will be open from 12-5, with a presentation from 4-5 pm. Dr.

Join Oregon Black Pioneers to learn more about Portland's first Black ancestor. In 1805, an enslaved man named York reached what is today Portland as part of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. York’s contributions helped ensure the Expedition’s success, but he received no compensation for his services and his efforts were rarely acknowledged in the two centuries that followed.

Join Urban Forestry for a BIPOC-centered, story-time-like program with tree-themed story reading, songs, education, and tree-themed botanical art! Kids and adults are welcome to this tree-literacy winter experience!
