Central Library, beloved by the community since 1913, is now open with modern enhancements for you to enjoy!  

Join us for a 45 minutes walking tour through the building.  No registration required. 

Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog. For kids and teens. Call 503.988.5123 to register.

Join us for a fun and imaginative LEGO building session. We'll provide the building blocks, you bring the creativity! Ideal for grades K-5, but younger and older siblings are welcome.

Every participant (child, teen, or adult) must sign up in advance to reserve a spot. No library card required. All materials are provided. Registration opens three weeks in advance.

What will you create? Bring your ideas and make them a reality! Join us at the Rockwood Library makerspace to make something cool, learn a new skill, and meet friendly people.

Families with children 0-6, you’re invited for an active half-hour of singing, dancing, and stories in English and Spanish. Attendance is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

The African and African American experience comes alive for children from birth to age 6 (with their favorite adult/family members). Have fun with books and stories, songs, and movement activities in a positive and affirming environment. Black Storytime builds language and literacy skills your child needs to be ready for kindergarten. Attendance is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

In April 2026, join us from 12 to 2 pm Thursdays through Sundays to hear performances from some incredible local artists. Learn more about the performers here!

Calling all little movers and shakers and their caregivers! Sing, dance, listen to stories, and explore basic sign language together with Tiny Talkers! Connect through music while helping kids build their confidence, communication, and awareness. Enjoy a joyful mix of rhythm, storytelling, imaginative play, and simple sign. You can start using sign right away at home to connect!
