One-year-olds (with a favorite adult) enjoy songs, movement activities, rhymes, books and playtime. This action-packed program engages new walkers in language-based activities. Attendance is limited and free tickets are available 15 minutes before storytime.

Multnomah County Library storytimes are supported by gifts made to The Library Foundation.

Play and learning go hand in hand. Join other families in a fun playtime at the library with books, toys, music, and all the room you need to learn through play. As Mr. Rogers said, "... for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood."

Kids have fun with literacy games, art projects and other activities that strengthen reading and writing skills. For students entering first or second grade. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions. 

The Black, African, and African American experience comes alive for children from birth to age 6 (with their favorite adult/family members). Have fun with books and stories, songs, and movement activities in a positive and affirming online environment. Black Storytime builds language and literacy skills your child needs to be ready for kindergarten.

While our storytimes are on break, join other families for a fun playtime (for ages birth - 1) with board books, toys, music, and all the room your baby needs to learn through play. As Mr. Rogers said, "... for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood."

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced knitter, come join the fun as we learn together. All experience levels and ages welcome! Please bring your own supplies.

Paint and decorate a rock to put out in your neighborhood to spread kindness and create community connections. Bring your own clean rock or use one we provide. 

Kids in grades 2-3 and their favorite adults are invited to talk about graphic novels and eat snacks! Every meeting includes a short activity related to this month's book. A limited number of books are available for pick up at the library.

Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog! The dogs and handlers are from Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Dove Lewis Portland Area Canine Therapy Teams, Paws for Love, and Pet Partners®.

Do you have knitting and/or crocheting projects that you’d love to get finished? Or new ones you want to start? Please join us on Tuesdays for yarn work and fun! All ages and abilities welcome.

Join other Native American families for a welcoming playtime that strengthens cultural connection, shared learning, and builds meaningful relationships. Families experience an exchange of traditions while children build social skills in a safe space where everyone can be themselves.

Pretend that an evil landlord is about to close the doors on your beloved library. You and your friends are the only hope for keeping the doors open with the help of Tinker Camp, a nonprofit dedicated to STEAM education in your community. You decide that the best way to save the building is to create an arcade of games and invite the neighbors to come and play to raise the rent!

Come play at the mobile version of the FLIP Museum! Play is such an important of learning and growing. Kids from birth - 10 and their caregivers will enjoy hands on play and crafts. Fun, Learning, Inspiration, and Play -- FLIP!

Ofrecemos actividades que promueven la alfabetización temprana, leyendo libros, cantando, y jugando. La Hora de Cuentos virtual está diseñada para niños de edad preescolar y sus cuidadores. El programa es presentado en español y es transmitido a través de Zoom.

This preschool storytime is especially welcoming for children ages 3-5 and families who are looking for a smaller, more adaptive library experience.
