Kiddie Chemistry with OMSI
In this introduction to basic chemistry with the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), young students study mixtures and chemical reactions involving changes in color, temperature and states of matter. They’ll watch solutions change right before their eyes! Topics include chemical reactions, mixtures, chemical safety, gases, liquids and solids. Recommended for younger kids (K-3).

Family Storytime
Children from birth to age 6 (with a favorite adult) enjoy books, songs, rhymes and movement activities while building language and literacy skills. Storytime is followed by a play time or craft activity. Attendance is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
Family Playtime
Play and learning go hand in hand. Join other families in a fun playtime at the library with books, toys, music, and all the room you need to learn through play. As Mr. Rogers said, "... for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood."
Tiny Tots
One-year-olds (with a favorite adult) enjoy songs, movement activities, rhymes, books and playtime. This action-packed program engages new walkers in language-based activities.
Attendance is limited and free tickets are available 15 minutes before storytime.

Drop in anytime between 2:30 and 4:30 to make some ooey, gooey slime!

Week 1: Collaborative Art (quilt, collage, collaborative drawing, gratitude tree, etc.)
Week 2: Lego Lab
Week 3: Afternoon Art take home craft (exploring watercolors, sculpture with air dry clay, pom pom animals, collage, etc.)
Week 4: STEAM Studio (Science/Engineering, Rube Goldberg Machines, Cardboard construction, Sphero obstacle courses, Minute to Win It Challenges, Marble Runs, etc.)

Join us for a fun and imaginative LEGO building session. We'll provide the building blocks, you bring the creativity! Ideal for grades K-5, but younger and older siblings are welcome.
Book Babies
Babies from birth to 12 months (with a favorite adult) enjoy songs, action rhymes, and playtime, with bonus socialization for babies and the adults.

Nintendo Switch
Try out Capitol Hill's Nintendo Switch! Test out a new game on the last Friday of every month. Kids play from 3:00 to 4:00, Tweens and Teens play from 4:00-5:00.
Basic Bike Maintenance Workshop
Learn about bike maintenance and bring your bicycle with you to get some hands-on experience doing basic repairs!
We'll go over the major systems on a bike, learn how to do some simple adjustments and have time to practice flat repair.
You're encouraged to bring your bike and any specific questions about issues you might have, but it's not required for attendance.
