How to get an Oregon Food Handler’s Card

An Oregon Food Handler’s card is required for jobs that include handling food. To get the card, you must take a test and pay a fee. The card is valid for three years.

Follow these easy steps to get your food handler’s card:

  1. Study: Use the online manual or get a printed version at your local library.
  2. Prepare: You will need an email address, and a credit or debit card to pay the $10 fee.
  3. Take the test: You can take it online or call 503.988.5257 and schedule to take the test in person.
  4. Print your card: Once you pass the test, download and print your card. If you are not at the library, you can print from your mobile device or any computer and pick it up later at the library.

Steps for taking the Oregon Food Handler’s card test:

  1. Click your language at the top.
  2. Scroll down and click the “Get Started” button.
  3. Click “Test then follow the instructions to create an account.
  4. A verification code will be sent to your email. You will need this to complete the process.
  5. Begin taking the test. You can use your manual while taking the test.

If you log out before you finish the test, you will have to start again from the beginning.
