Central Library tours and group visits

Group visits to Central Library are available for all ages. Schedule your group visit at least two weeks prior to your preferred date; at least three weeks if your school group wishes to hear booktalks. We can only take reservations three months in advance or less. Please call 503.988.5123 for more information.

Preschool to third grade

Self-guided tours

  • If your group doesn't require special services from library staff, we nonetheless appreciate hearing about your upcoming visit if your group is larger than 20. Please contact us at 503.988.5123 to let us know.

Group size

We must limit tour sizes to the following numbers. The minimum group size is six individuals.

  • Storytime:  40
  • School groups: 40
  • Adults: 40
  • Computer lab: 12
  • Eco-roof: 12 (larger groups can break up and visit in smaller numbers)

Library cards

If you’d like to check out materials, please bring your valid Multnomah County Library card (and password/PIN number). If more than six people in your group need to register for library cards, please indicate the need for cards in your online tour application. Return completed applications to Central Library’s Customer Service department at least one week before your visit.

Storage space/lunch room

If your group requires a place to have lunch, arrangements may be possible once your visit is confirmed. Please indicate your need when you complete your request for a group visit. The library does not have space to store lunches, bags or coats.

Parking

A parking garage is northeast of the library across SW 10th Avenue. Metered street parking is available. MAX, Streetcar and buses all stop nearby.
