Born and raised on the Oregon Coast, I feel the quiet pull of tide pools and sand dunes despite a love of exploring far-flung places in books. After an armchair journey around the world, I’ll often come back to my all-time favorite novel, Sometimes a Great Notion or the coastal musings of local author Matt Love.
When not traveling by book, I am a persistent maker of things, lapsed painter, lover of berries and bundt cake, thrift store hound, and mother to a 5-year-old time traveler.
International fiction, the immigrant experience, popular nonfiction and memoirs are my go tos, but as a dabbler, I’ll open up any book that looks interesting (or has an exceptionally pretty cover). I’m hooked on books that teach me something new, be it how to bake brioche in a can or the history of the Biafran War.
