Catherine is a librarian at the Central Library in Downtown Portland. She has worked in public libraries since 2004 when she started shelving books at the Bozeman Public Library (Montana). She enjoys reading popular science writing, memoirs of remarkable but ordinary people, books on the natural world, travel stories, cultural issues, and realistic fiction. She likes to help people find the information they need to be successful in their own lives. Her neighborhood branch is the Capitol Hill Library.
She is currently reading and listening to "My Beloved World" (2013) by United States Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor on e-book and downloadable audiobook. In the book Sotomayor recounts her formative years growing up in the South Bronx in "a tiny microcosm of Hispanic New York City," among an extended family of Puerto Rican immigrants, her life with diabetes, and her decision to attend college.
