Our Story: Portland Through an African American Lens

Ninie Mae Locke  Izeal Campbell  Kent-Ford, Freddie-Whitlow, and Percy Hampton

In the coming months, Multnomah County Library will collaborate with our community, generating  conversations and gathering images to help chronicle and celebrate the very important story of the African American experience in Portland. From this work, we will create a unique online collection of photography, documents and artifacts, available to all. In partnership with: City of Portland Archive & Records Center, Know Your City, Oregon Historical Society, and Vanport Mosaic.

We hope you’ll join us on this journey.
