PORTLAND, Ore. — March 22, 2022 — Woodstock Library will be closed today, March 22, 2022 following an incident yesterday evening involving a person experiencing an apparent mental health crisis while in possession of weapons. Portland Police responded to the incident and the person left in the care of paramedics. No patrons or library staff members were injured.
The Portland Police Bureau is investigating the incident and Multnomah County Library is cooperating fully with the investigation. The library is closing in order to allow affected Woodstock Library staff members to process and decompress following the incident.
Other libraries are operating as usual, with Sellwood-Moreland and Holgate libraries as the nearest alternatives to Woodstock Library. Woodstock Library will reopen Wednesday, March 23.

I am grateful to the staff at Woodstock Library for their compassionate and quick response to this situation as it unfolded.”
