Multnomah County Library welcomes Kwame Alexander

Celebrated Newbery Medal-winning author of The Crossover and Rebound to speak April 20

PORTLAND, Ore. — April 2, 2018 — On April 20, Multnomah County Library welcomes poet, educator and bestselling author Kwame Alexander to Portland for An Evening with Kwame Alexander. Alexander will appear at the Alberta Rose Theatre, 3000 NE Alberta St. Admission is free on a first come, first served basis.

Alexander’s works have engaged a new generation of readers. His basketball-themed novel-in-verse, The Crossover, won the 2015 Newbery Medal for the year’s most distinguished contribution to literature for young people. His latest work, Rebound (also a novel-in-verse and a prequel to The Crossover), explores the youth of Chuck Bell and his discovery of basketball and jazz over the course of one fateful summer.

The event begins at 6:30 pm. A book signing precedes it at 6 pm.

Kwame Alexander's visit is made possible by gifts to The Library Foundation, a local nonprofit dedicated to our library's leadership, innovation and reach through private support.
