Midland Library closed March 1 through 15 for improvements

Book return available on-site while work is completed

PORTLAND, Ore. — February 20 — Midland Library will be closed from Sunday, March 1 through Sunday, March 15 for renovations, including upgrades to install materials handling equipment that will help process items and fulfill holds more quickly and efficiently. The library will reopen at 10 am on Monday, March 16.

During the closure, patrons can drop off library items at a temporary bookdrop located in the Midland Library parking lot; or they can return items to any Multnomah County Library branch. The nearest locations are Rockwood Library, Holgate Library and Gregory Heights Library

Due to some of the renovations, there will be no storytime programs from March 1 through April 5.

“Midland Library has a large collection and processes a lot of items for this community and for surrounding libraries,” said Midland Library Manager Gretchen Webb. “These updates will allow us to provide books and other library items to patrons more quickly and efficiently.”

Additional work during the closure includes upgrading the wifi; creating a reservable study room for public use; adding a bottle-filling water fountain; and a detailed cleaning of the library.

All items checked out at Midland Library before the closure will not accrue fines during the closure and will be due after the library reopens.
