Library mobile app now available in five languages

PORTLAND, Ore. — May 16, 2013 — Multnomah County Library’s multcolib mobile app is now available in Spanish, Chinese, Russian and Vietnamese the most spoken languages in the county after English. Multnomah County Library is the only client library in the nation with five languages available on its mobile app according to Boopsie Inc., the mobile application’s vendor.

More than 13,000 patrons use the library’s free mobile app to search the library catalog, place holds, manage their accounts, find a library, explore events, ask questions and more. It is compatible with iPad and all major smartphones.

“We are proud to be a national leader in providing this service,” said Director of Libraries Vailey Oehlke. “Our community has told us loudly and clearly that it values mobile access to the library. Translating our app for the language groups we serve is one more way we can connect immigrants to the resources they need to be successful in the United States.”

To download the app, visit multcolib.boopsie.com on your mobile device, or search the iTunes App Store or Android Market for “multcolib.”

To view the app in Spanish, Chinese, Russian or Vietnamese, simply tap the settings icon, then tap the language.

Funding for the app was provided by The Library Foundation.
