Earth sciences

Geology is the scientific study of the earth, including its composition, structure, physical properties, and history. It includes the study of minerals and rocks, volcanic phenomena, land forms, and the processes that produce them. What happens when tectonic plates shift and volcanoes erupt? How do caves and caverns form? What is the difference between rocks and minerals, oceans and seas? When do glaciers become floods and what causes a tsunami? What does a geologist study and how is that different from geography?
