Let's Be Civil About This

Are you a youth between the ages of 12 and 23? Want to learn how to be more civically engaged? Come to our panel/workshop where you’ll hear from young political activists and experienced community organizers on how to make your voice heard, organizing a campaign, and how to be an advocate for your community! Hosted by McDaniel High School's Youth Action Council.

Panelists include:

Danny Cage is a speaker and youth organizer advocating for racial justice, education reform, and LGBTQ+ rights. Starting his activism at an early age by attending protests and rallies, his goal is to build political engagement within the City of Portland.

Jaime Cale is a Black and Indigenous, married mom of two biracial sons, both attending Portland Public Schools.  She is a social worker, mediator, PPS employee, and co-founder of Mxm Bloc.  Each of these roles has heightened Jaime’s conviction that PPS needs stronger leadership, rooted in a foundation of equity, and racial & social justice. Jaime is currently a candidate for the school board.

Violeta Mata was a youth organizer advocating for racial justice and transportation justice through her work on the youthpass campaign. She hopes to continue her organizing and activism through advocating for disability justice.
