Can't come to the library? We can come to you. Library Outreach Services provide books (large-print and regular), CDs, DVDs and videos to senior and homebound customers who can't visit a regular library.
Here's what we provide to individual customers:
- Books by Mail - free delivery of library materials by mail to qualified customers
- Free home delivery - Outreach staff help qualified customers select library materials. Deliveries are scheduled bimonthly.
- Talking Books - Audiobooks are available to library outreach customers. For access to Talking Books for the Blind and Visually Handicapped, contact the Oregon State Library at 1.800.452.0292 from anywhere in Oregon.
Library Outreach also provides services for seniors and homebound customers at a variety of locations throughout Multnomah County:
- Lobby service at retirement homes - Residents can check out materials from a selection of books and media during monthly visits.
- Large-print books and support for Pageturner book clubs at retirement homes, funded by the Friends of the Library.
- Deposit collections of books at care centers, assisted living centers and adult foster homes.
- BiFolkal kits: collections of music, slides, objects and activities on various themes that are used in groups to assist memory.
- Visiting Voices-volunteers who read aloud to nursing home residents.
