Shelters & Transitional Housing
We serve a variety of social services centers for the homeless and formerly homeless. Each month our 18 volunteers deliver collections of books, magazines, audio books, movies and jigsaw puzzles to adults, teens and children in homeless shelters, domestic abuse and teen shelters, social service and daytime drop-in centers, and transitional housing and permanent housing centers for the formerly homeless.
The materials we deliver are donations to these sites and their clients. Each month we send out interest sheets. Some of the most requested subjects are alcohol & drug recovery, job hunting, inspiration, health (especially books on diabetes), parenting & pregnancy, GED, mysteries and science fiction. Last year we delivered over 19,000 items.
