Built in five days by community members, the Imagination Station is a wonderful place for any child's imagination! There are slides, swings, ramps, ladders and tires for climbing, hiding, hanging and balancing. Or survey the world from one of the turrets atop the huge, wooden fort-like structure. This is a favorite destination for the kids who frequent Fairview Library's storytime.
Salish Ponds Wetlands Park: N.E. Glisan St. & N.E. 207th Ave. [Fairview]

An oasis in the middle of the city! Here you will find two small ponds with trails leading through wetlands and forest. Also, the West Salish Pond is stocked with fish, so bring your poles (and your license). A note on getting there, turn into the Lodges at Lake Salish appartment complex from N.E. Glisan, and follow the public parking signs.

Tad's is on the east bank of the beautiful Sandy River, on the scenic highway between downtown Troutdale and the Columbia Gorge waterfalls, so it's in a prime spot to lure in Portlanders on their way home from a day's hiking and sightseeing. The diner retains much of its 1930s charm (though mod items like Pesto Chicken have been added to the menu), with knotty pine interiors and red vinyl upholstery for the chairs and booths. Whether you're on a mission for stewed chicken and dumplings and retro decor, or just hungry on the way home from a day trip, Tad's has what you need.
